Handling Insurance Sales Objections With AI Scripts

By Jay J.P. Peak

Every agent I know has lost a case they should have closed because the objection caught them flat-footed. Not because they did not know the answer, but because in the moment the answer did not come out clean. AI is a fantastic prep tool for exactly this, and it does not turn you into a scripted robot if you use it right.

The five objections you will hear this month

  1. It is too expensive.
  2. I need to think about it.
  3. I already have coverage.
  4. I want to shop it around.
  5. Let me talk to my spouse.

None of those are actual rejections. They are the polite version of, I am not sure yet, help me get there. Your job is to make it easy for them to keep going. AI can help you prep three or four responses to each one, in your voice, that you can pull from in real time.

How to prep with AI, not perform with AI

Do not read a script off your screen on a live call. That is where scripted sales dies. Instead, prep like a fighter, so the moves are in your body when you need them.

  1. Give your AI assistant the objection and your positioning.
  2. Ask for three ways to respond, one that acknowledges, one that reframes, one that redirects to a next step.
  3. Read them out loud. Cross out the ones that do not sound like you.
  4. Rewrite the winner in your own words on a sticky note.
  5. Practice it once or twice before your next call.

By the time you get to that objection on a real call, you are not reading, you are remembering. That is the difference.

Sample response frames

It is too expensive

Acknowledge, totally hear that. Reframe, and if we can find the right level of coverage that fits your budget, is the plan itself still what you want? Redirect, let me show you two ways we can shape this so it works.

I need to think about it

Acknowledge, that makes sense, big decision. Reframe, when you say think about it, is there a specific piece you want me to clarify, or is it more the timing? Redirect, if it is the timing, I can send you a one-pager so nothing gets lost between now and then.

I want to shop it around

Acknowledge, smart, I would want to know I looked. Reframe, here is what to compare beyond just the price so you can tell whether you are actually looking at the same thing. Redirect, send me what you find, I will be honest about whether it is a better fit.

The compliance line

AI helps you prep language. You still say what you say on a call, and you still document what you promised in writing. Never send an AI-drafted client email without reading it first. Never use a script that overstates a benefit or understates a limitation. The point of prep is to be more accurate under pressure, not less.

Start with your top three

You do not need a giant objection library. Pick the three objections you hear the most, prep three responses each, and drill them for a week. Your close rate will move. That is where I always tell my agents to start.
